the great fever
last wednesday els got a fever that, once it reached 105* at 10:00, had me calling up the on call pediatrician. It persisted (and persisted!) and landed us in urgent care by sunday. for four hours. for many inconclusive tests. we walked out empty handed and still feverish. by wendsday we were in our pediatricians office for further tests, but finally that afternoon, that stupid fever broke. I can't tell you how weird it was to pick up my baby and feel a cool head instead of a hellishly hot one. poor girlie slept alllllll, day erry day and was the saddest thing ever. by tuesday I was so sleep deprived that I wasn't able to think clearly and was having panic attacks about meningitis or leukemia or something crazy. Luckily (not luckily?) my friend HAD meningitis as a baby and could tell me what to look for, so I knew it wasn't that. But yeesh, we're so glad she's (finally!) getting better, although her doctor says to expect her to feel ill for another week.
it's still a mystery as to what it was, but it sure was something.
