When you're making the tool box, you'll wan to cut out one full piece for the back (although this isn't necessary if you're sewing it onto a quiet book page, but I thought it looked a little nicer) and then cut on the lines and cut one top piece and one bottom piece. This way your tool box will open!
When you're making objects that will be 3-D, I've found it's easiest to cut out just one outline of the shape, then sew it onto a large square. Afterwards, you can cut around the shape to finish it off. This keeps your pieces from slipping all over the place. Maybe I'm the only one who has trouble with that, but anytime I try and sew two same-size pieces together, they always end up off center! You'll see on the template I had originally planned to sew block letters onto the tool box. I decided not to at the last minute, because I thought I could always swap out the tools for plates, forks, & food and have it be a lunch box instead. You know, in case tools ever get boring!
